Ruben is a Registered Foreign Lawyer in our Family Asset Protection team – part of the firm’s wider global Private Wealth group.
Ruben advises high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients in complex, international and often high profile family cases. He specialises in resolving financial issues following relationship breakdown and, in particular, high value divorces. He has a particular interest and focus on cases involving offshore trusts and the variation of nuptial settlements. Many of his cases involve substantial business interests and corporate structures.
Most of Ruben’s work has an international dimension and he frequently advises on forum, jurisdictional and cross-border issues.
Ruben also advises individuals and families on asset protection. He has considerable experience of preparing pre and postnuptial agreements for internationally based clients with assets and interests in numerous jurisdictions. He regularly works with and advises family offices, professional trustees and private bankers in relation to trusts (and other asset holding structures) to ensure wealth is preserved in the event of a divorce or family dispute.
He moved to Hong Kong in 2014 and, prior to that, practised in London for over six years with leading matrimonial law firms. His current practice is split between Hong Kong and London.
Ruben was included in Legal Week’s Private Client Global Elite ‘Ones to Watch’ in 2018 and is currently recommended in the Citywealth Leaders List. He has also been recognised by the Legal 500 in which he was described as being ‘incisive’.
